“Everything You Want Releases Dopamine…”

“….And you want it because it releases dopamine,” explains the short video below.

“Things are important and valuable only if they activate your dopamine…..

“Being unfocused and easily distracted means you’re low on dopamine.”

Bottom line: If you don’t have “enough” dopamine, or your dopamine is activated only by over-the-top pleasures (or anticipation of pleasures)? Caution ahead.

This is a wonderful little video. Extraordinarily helpful in explaining, in a succinct manner, the role of dopamine in our lives. Thanks so much for finding it and posting it.

Interesting video, thanks for sharing – and as an interesting new wrinkle we have been measuring and regularly seeing associated with ADHD challenges is the neurotransmitter PEA [see this Wikipedia piece: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenethylamine ]. Characteristic of PEA increases [measurable in the urine and correctable with specific inhibitory neurotransmitter precursors - amino acids]: cravings… like chocolate and sex!

The world of ADHD neurotransmitters continues to widen – already including glutamate as tagged by Intuniv for the aggressive side of ADHD [a summary of my Intuniv posts here: http://bit.ly/caaB9j for the medication side of those interesting changes.

    Thanks g
